Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) Clarification Text
Definitions
In this Clarification Text:
- Personal Data refers to any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.
- Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) refers to Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data, which was published in the Official Gazette dated 7 April 2016, issue number 29677, and entered into force.
- Association of Academicians Union (AAU) refers to the Academicians' Association located at Kızılırmak Mah., Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu Cad. No: 39 (Protokol Ankara Plaza) İç Kapı No: 89, Çankaya/Ankara.
- Data Controller refers to the natural or legal person who determines the purposes and means of processing personal data and is responsible for establishing and managing the data recording system.
- Data Processor refers to the natural or legal person who processes personal data on behalf of the data controller, based on the authority granted by the data controller.
Data Controller
Pursuant to PDPL, the Academicians' Association will process your personal data in accordance with the scope defined below and in compliance with the PDPL, in cases where you are a member, volunteer, donor, scholarship recipient, intern, project partner, competition participant, event attendee, speaker, trainer, visitor, or employee.
Purposes of Processing Personal Data
Your personal data will be processed for the following purposes, in compliance with Articles 4, 5, and 6 of the PDPL:
- Managing membership processes and membership operations,
- Organizing and conducting conferences, seminars, workshops, training programs, cultural and artistic activities,
- Establishing and managing scholarship and support programs,
- Carrying out academic, scientific, social, cultural, and artistic projects, forming partnerships,
- Collecting participant information for events and projects and maintaining communication,
- Promoting association activities, providing information, and making announcements,
- Fulfilling legal obligations and providing information to authorized institutions/organizations,
- Managing financial transactions (donations, membership fees, support, etc.).
Transfer of Personal Data
Your personal data may be transferred, within the framework of the purposes stated above, to partner institutions and organizations, project partners, suppliers, supporters, legally authorized public institutions and organizations, and legally authorized private legal entities, for the purposes of carrying out the association's activities.
Method and Legal Basis for Collecting Personal Data
Your personal data is collected through membership forms, application forms (scholarship, event, competition, project), contact forms, email communications, website forms, verbal, written, or electronic requests and applications, for the purpose of fulfilling the objectives and activities stated in the association's charter, and based on the legal grounds specified in Articles 5 and 6 of the PDPL.
Rights of the Personal Data Owner
Pursuant to Article 11 of the PDPL, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- To learn whether your personal data is processed or not,
- To request information if your personal data has been processed,
- To learn the purpose of processing your personal data and whether they are used in accordance with the intended purpose,
- To know the third parties to whom your personal data has been transferred, domestically or internationally,
- To request the correction of your personal data if it has been processed incompletely or incorrectly,
- To request the deletion or destruction of your personal data,
- To request notification of these operations (correction, deletion, destruction) to third parties to whom your personal data has been transferred,
- To object to any result against you arising from the analysis of your personal data exclusively by automatic systems,
- To demand compensation for any damages incurred due to the unlawful processing of your personal data.
Method of Application
To exercise your rights, you may submit a written application to the Academicians' Association. Your application must be clear, understandable, and include your identity and address information, and must be delivered by hand, by mail, or via notary to the address below:
