The Increasing Safety and Security through Labour-Management Partnership project aimed to strengthen occupational health and safety (OHS) and improve safe working conditions in the mining sector. Within the scope of the project, awareness was raised regarding the importance, scope, and legal dimension of decent work in the context of OHS, and mechanisms to support effective implementation of OHS policies through labour-management cooperation were promoted.
Throughout the project period, the knowledge and awareness levels of workers and managers in the mining sector were significantly increased, contributing to the development of a sustainable safety culture across the industry. As a result of the project activities, OHS awareness of 194 employees and 21 managers was significantly enhanced, a comprehensive survey report was prepared, an OHS risk-control booklet was developed, a public awareness campaign was conducted, and two workshops were organized. In addition, a Labour-Management Review Committee was established to strengthen collaboration between employees and employers.
Through this project, significant contributions were made to improving occupational health and safety practices in the mining sector, enabling employees to work in safer environments and contributing to raising safety standards in the industry in the long term.
