Friday Talks – Uzbek Poet Cholpan in the Victims of the Red Wound
At this week’s session of our Friday Talks program, which our Association has been organizing regularly for many years, we were honored to host Dr. Veli Savaş Yelok.
In his lecture titled “The Uzbek Poet Cholpan Among the Victims of the Red Massacre,” Dr. Yelok discussed in detail the life, poetic understanding, and artistic world of Abdulhamid Suleymanoğlu Cholpan, one of the prominent literary figures of the Turkic world in Central Asia.
During the program, Dr. Yelok highlighted the challenges Cholpan faced under the oppressive atmosphere of the Soviet era, the themes of national identity and freedom reflected in his works, and his significance within Turkic literature. He presented Cholpan’s tragic life story and the political context of the period through a historical perspective, illustrating the poet’s contributions to our literature and cultural heritage with striking examples.
The event continued with a Q&A session, where participants showed great interest, creating a productive academic discussion environment. Our Association places strong importance on promoting the intellectual and cultural heritage of the Turkic world, enriching it through academic perspectives, and transferring this legacy to future generations.
Our Friday Talks series will continue to explore different topics each week with esteemed experts in their fields. We extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Veli Savaş Yelok and our valued participants for their contributions.
