Friday Talks – A Comparison of Turkish and Uzbek Proverbs
As part of our traditional Friday Talks program, this week we explored the shared cultural roots and meaning network of Turkish and Uzbek proverbs.
During the session, we discussed the common values, linguistic similarities, and cultural reflections developed throughout history by the Turkish and Uzbek peoples. Themes such as wisdom expressed in proverbs, social behavior patterns, and family and community relations were examined through a comparative perspective.
Participants emphasized that the similarities found in proverbs of both cultures once again highlight the shared historical heritage of the Turkic world. At the same time, it was noted that the differences reflect the unique social and cultural characteristics of each society.
The enriching discussion was further deepened through examples of proverbs and contributions from attendees. Our Association continues to promote academic and cultural awareness through such activities, with a focus on the cultural and intellectual heritage of the Turkic world.
Our Friday Talks will continue with new topics and esteemed guests in the coming weeks. We thank all participants for joining us.
