AAU Launches New Project to Address Child Labour
The Association of Academicians Union (AAU) is contributing to the prevention of child labour and the strengthening of child protection mechanisms through the “Bridging Systems and Communities: Integrated Child Protection Services to Address Child Labour” project, implemented with the support of UNICEF and the involvement of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of Türkiye.
Running from 2026 to 2027, the project aims to support adolescents aged 15–17 who are at risk of child labour by improving their access to education, skills development opportunities, and safe pathways to employment.
Covering 26 provinces, including six focus provinces, the project aims to provide training for more than 150 academics and students, strengthen the institutional capacities of 30 civil society organisations, and support over 240 adolescents through educational and career development activities.
As the implementing partner, AAU will bring together academic expertise and field-based practices through capacity-building programmes, youth innovation laboratories, career development activities, and community awareness initiatives. By strengthening cooperation among public institutions, civil society organisations, and local stakeholders, the project seeks to protect children's rights and contribute to a safer and more inclusive future.
