The Project to Elimination of Child Labour in Seasonal Agriculture Has Begun
The field activities of the project entitled ‘Elimination of Child Labour in Seasonal Agriculture’, conducted by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, Directorate General of Labour, and the International Labour Organisation (ILO), and implemented in the field by the Association of Academicians Union (AAU), have officially commenced.
As the implementing organization in the field, the AAU will be responsible for carrying out comprehensive training and awareness programs across 17 provinces. Our Association President, Prof. Dr. İsmail Şahin, emphasized in his statement that child labour is not only an economic issue but also a multidimensional social problem directly related to children’s right to education, healthy development, and fundamental human rights. Highlighting that children working in seasonal agricultural labor are deprived of education and face various health and safety risks, Şahin noted that this project represents a strategic investment in our future.
AAU's National and International Project Experience Will Be Reflected in the Field
The Academicians Union Association is a well-established organization that has actively taken part in numerous social policy, education, and capacity-building projects supported by the European Union, ILO, UNDP, and other international funds. The Association will bring its expertise in project management, adult education, field implementation, and social impact development into practice within this project.
Through the capacity-building trainings led by the Academicians Union Association, it is aimed to enhance the knowledge and awareness of public institutions, village headmen, social stakeholders, orchard owners, and field workers, thereby strengthening institutional capacity and ensuring sustainable impact in the fight against child labour.
In the upcoming period, trainings and awareness activities will continue in various provinces covered by the project.
